Samsonite form-fit skins

Samsonite's form-fit skins are a less than cheap way to make your iPod Touch ugly and give it a small amount of protection from the elements. I picked up a set of 2 skins at Wal-Mart for a measly $4 on clearance (non-returnable). They both have 2 color designs; one black and white, the other purple and black.

These skins leave access to the dock connector, and the headphone jack. However, the on/off button is covered by the skin, but is still usable. Like most protective cases for the iTouch, this skin leaves the screen wide open to damage. Fortunately for us owners, the iPod Touch screen is scratch resistant so my only concern with these open screen cases is dust and stuff getting on the screen or inside the case.

The two color designs are somewhat ugly, especially the ugly combination of purple and black. There is a belt loop on the back, which I find virtually useless as there is something about dangling my iTouch from my waist that doesn't strike me as a good idea.

Even for the next to nothing $4 for these skins, they're not worth it. The skins fit nicely but the edges are unfinished and sharp and the narrow piece of skin above the home button seems like it could break easily. Lastly, they aren't the best looking skins and like other silicone skins they are somewhat slippery feeling as they have no added grip.

bottom line

If you're looking for a protective silicone case then save up your dollar bills and get one in the $10-20 price range. This ultra cheap solution probably won't meet your requirements.
