RCA HPNC250 Noise-Canceling Headphones
RCA's HPNC250 Noise-Canceling Headphones are one of the most inexpensive ways to reduce external noise while listening to your iPod. If you're mowing, on a plane, or working out and want to listen to your own music, you'll find that noise-canceling headphones are a great way to do so without blowing your ear drums with loud music. These headphones use a single AAA battery to reduce outside noise up to 12 dB at 300Hz, which is fairly good for your everyday use.
First off, let's talk about the headphones themselves. I find them as extremely comfortable over the head headphones for their price. The ear pieces are nicely padded and at times I prefer the over the head style to in the ear earbuds. They feature a 1.2 meter cord which is a great length giving you lots of freedom. Lastly, they are fairly lightweight, but not so much that they seem cheap and easily breakable. I mainly use these headphones for mowing my yard. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time and the noise-canceling is perfect to zone out the noise of my riding lawnmower. The noise-canceling feature has an on/off switch on the left earpiece and produces white noise that ‘cancels' external noises. This is a much better alternative than cranking your music player to its loudest decibel. So if you're reading this and don't already use noise-canceling headphones, you should definitely look into them for your own ears' safety.
Once you start to compare the sound quality of these headphones, you'll notice that you get what you pay for. Of course they aren't going to match up to high end headphones, but you will notice the sound quality isn't really there with these. If you use the noise-canceling feature in an environment that isn't quite as loud as a lawnmower or airplane, you will find that the white noise may be noticeable while listening to your music.
These headphones are a very inexpensive way to provide a good music listening experience while mowing and as they come with an airplane headphone jack adapter, they are great for vacations too. However, with their low price comes a quality that may not be up to your standards.
