Hearing Components' Comply NR-10 Earphones
Noise reduction seems to be the new technology thats taking over noice-canceling. It doesn't use batteries, is more comfortable and has the ability to block out far more unwanted sound that noise-canceling. The new Comply(tm) NR-10 high tech noise reducing earphones utilize a patented technology, used by U.S. Army helicopter crews, that features superior noise reduction and clean, clear audio quality.
The NR-10s come with the earphones, 2 slim foam tips, 2 standard foam tips and a padded carrying pouch. The foam tips on the NR-10 are interchangeable and replaceable. These ultra soft foam tips are basically what makes the NR-10s so amazing. Using a moldable foam, the tips take the shape of the ear canal and provide a snug earplug-like fit that is secure, comfortable and provides clean and loud audio.
The proper way to use these earphones is to roll the foam tips in between your fingers, gently compressing the foam, then hold it in your ear allowing it to expand and create a tight mold. I found that both the slim and standard size foam tips fit my ears well. Obviously the standard ones are bigger, creating a tighter fit that is louder, blocks out more noise and is tighter. The slim ones are a little more comfortable and you can barely even tell they are in after having them in for a while.
Noise reduction technology allows you to listen to low volume audio and still block out unwanted noise, without using batteries to power noise-canceling technology that creates white noise. This feature really enhances traveling experiences so you don't have to have your volume at full blast to block out noise. Once again, the main thing that sticks out to me is comfort. These earphones are compact and comfortable yet they still feature passive noise reduction at an average of 48dB or better.
An added plus is the 43 inch cable that isn't too long or too short. The cable also has a built-in volume control which is very useful with the ipod touch as it has no external controls.
