Griffin EarJams

Griffin’s EarJams are simple little add-ons for your existing earbuds. They are supposed to increase comfort, bass and mid-range sounds using silicone pads that work similar to earplugs and noise reduction earphones.

The EarJams package comes with two sets of jammers; one for older earbuds with straight posts, and one set for newer designs with contoured posts. The package also comes with 3 pairs of soft silicone earpads and a protective case to carry it all in.

First of all, the apple ipod touch headphones are considered the newer style, with a contoured post going to the earpiece. So with these you use the 3 pronged earjams that click right onto the earbud (see pictures). Depending on the size of your ears and your comfort you can use one of the 3 different sized pairs of silicone earpads. I like the bigger ones, as they seem to block out most ambient sound and also provide a clean mid-range sound. The earpads slide on and off easily and are also washable in case you forgot to clean out your ears that morning.

All 3 sizes of earpads seem to fit my ears well. However, the bigger ones create a tighter fit, reducing more background noise and delivering more massive bass than the smaller two pairs. The smallest pair seems very small in my ear and not as loud and bass(y). With all 3 earpads, the EarJams still sit differently in your ear than the normal earbuds making it look like the earbuds are crooked and hanging out of your ear. Despite that, the EarJams are still pretty comfortable and deliver good quality sound.

bottom line

An inexpensive add-on for your earbuds that enhance sound quality, provide added comfort and increase volume.
